I believe, in my opinion I’ve found one of the best telephoto combinations available today! The Kowa telephoto lens and Olympus OMD E-M5 MK II body. I have recently bought the Olympus OMD E-M5 MKII, in terms of micro four third bodies, it’s as good as it gets and when you combine it with the optical… Read more »

Down by the River

Posted by & filed under Blog.

A recent trip to the beautiful river side town of Betws-y-Coed in North Wales was the perfect opportunity to try some classic river shots. I think the key to a successful river photograph is to try and create movement through the image and the illusion that the water is flowing on a static image. To create… Read more »

The Garden on the Hill

A recent spell of good weather has brought our gardens and local green spaces to life, so I thought perfect timing to get out and take advantage of Mother Nature. I visited a local Garden called the Dorothy Clive Gardens,  it dates back to the 1940s, now run by a Trust, it’s a fantastic place… Read more »

A wider view

I’ve being using the Kowa 8.5mm lens a lot recently. I love the virtually no distortion and the edge to edge sharpness. The effect this lens has on landscapes is amazing. It transforms an ordinary scene in to something truly special. I bought a Kood ND filter which screws in to the lens hood  – this enabled me to play around with… Read more »

I thought I’d try three very different approaches, using different photographic techniques and different KOWA MFT lenses. From a standard portrait… Read more »

Creating atmosphere

A completely new project for me this week, I was asked by a friend of mine who is a member of a rock music band if I would like to do some photographs for their new website. The brief was to produce a set of images with a ‘gritty’ feel of the band and individual… Read more »

Nature’s beauty

Posted by & filed under Blog.

This weekend was mainly spent indoors due to disappointing weather, but I was determined to get some photography done. My Dad is a keen orchid grower so I headed over to his greenhouse and thought I’d give the Kowa 25mm f1.8 lens a try on a subject matter I’d not really photographed before. Using natural… Read more »

Sea of Blue

Posted by & filed under Blog.

Although not at the coast this weekend – I was still treated to a ‘Sea of Blue’ at a local nature Reserve called Parrot’s Drumble. The reserve derives it’s unusual name from a combination of its previous owners, the Parrot family, and a local term for a stream running through a wooded valley, drumble. It’s… Read more »

Far reaching focal lengths

Posted by & filed under Blog.

Beautiful conditions at the coast this weekend – I decided to try a small experiment using my Kowa kit and Olympus OMD EM-1. I packed my three Kowa MFT lenses (8.5mm, 12mm and 25mm) and also my Kowa telephoto lens with the three focal length adapters (350mm, 500mm, 850mm). I also packed my digiscoping adapter… Read more »
